Throughout the year, Rome will host Jubilee 2025, a worldwide event that will attract millions and millions of pilgrims and onlookers to the city. The capital will therefore be the scene of major events and live in perpetual turmoil for the duration of the “Holy Year.” In short, it is the perfect opportunity to visit the Eternal City.

In this regard, Naples represents one of the most strategic and convenient bridges to reach Rome in view of Jubilee 2025. The perfect location of the Neapolitan city allows the faithful and visitors to land at their desired destination in a few hours and at an affordable price for everyone. Moreover, there are so many means of transportation that one is spoiled for choice.

After all, the distance from Naples to Rome is only about 230 km, so about 2.5 hours by car, 1.10 hours by high-speed train, and many other ways. But let's take our time, sit comfortably and analyze all the various options for going to Jubilee 2025 starting from the magical city of Naples!

From Naples to Rome by train: from regional to high-speed option

If you want to take part in the Jubilee 2025 pilgrimage from Naples to Rome, the best choice for quality-price is definitely going by train. The starting point is Naples Centrale station at Piazza Garibaldi, and from there you buy a ticket for a train in the direction of Rome; there is a double stop option there, either Termini or Tiburtina, we recommend the former for logistical convenience. In any case, both are close to the city center.

Having chosen the train, it's up to us to analyze the double option: there is the high-speed train, where we would then have to choose the company we want to travel with, whether with Italo or Frecciarossa; the alternative is the regional, with the choice between InterCity and Regionale Veloce. The distance between the high-speed is the same, while among the regional there is the variation in the stops that will be followed during the journey.

The other difference is inevitably in the cost and the time taken: with Italo and FrecciaRossa it takes an hour and ten minutes in total, with cost starting at 14.90 euros if booked in advance; the regionals and Intercity cost under 20 euros always, even without advance notice, but take between 2 and 3 hours to travel. There is convenience on both sides, all that remains is to choose the best train for your needs and go.

How to reach Rome from Naples: the buses from Naples Metropark

We change means of transportation and this time to reach Rome from Naples we choose one that is a little less convenient than the train but certainly cheaper. We are talking about the bus option, an idea embraced by many travelers who take advantage of the short distance and proceed with the low cost. The starting point is always Piazza Garibaldi, this time in the forecourt of the Naples Metropark.

Just as with trains, there is ample choice here with four different companies: ItaBus, FlixBus, Marino and BlaBlaCar Bus. Especially if booked in advance, the costs are really low. They start at 3.97 euros, with majority fares of around 5 euros for the entire trip. All, with buses equipped with Wi-Fi and adjustable seats for traveling in comfort and peace of mind.

The downside is clearly the traffic situation, which we clearly do not encounter with the train. Rome is Italy's busiest city, so there is a risk that travel times will be lengthened by external and uncontrollable factors. The danger grows even more on occasions such as the Jubilee 2025, where tourism explodes at its peak. Theoretically, travel time should be about 2 1/2 hours.

From Naples to Rome: the choice of traveling by car

To reach Rome from Naples during Jubilee 2025, there is of course also the option that, in some ways, is also the most convenient. We are talking about traveling by car, thus the choice of not depending on anyone outside of oneself. No train to Rome, no bus or other public transportation.

The distance is always the same, we are talking about 230 kilometers that by car can be covered in just under 2 1/2 hours. The consequential advantage of this option follows: one chooses when to leave depending only on one's needs without having to book in advance. All that would remain would be to plan for adequate fueling, mind the 16-euro cost of the A1 highway toll, and prepare for the trip.

There would be only one major problem, highlighted with the coach paragraph above: the road system. Traffic between and in the two cities is a very important factor, so as much as there is personal freedom of schedule, one should avoid traveling during peak business hours

Another problem to be taken into account is that of parking in Rome: the most concrete hypotheses are those of the exchange parking lots, where one puts down the car to continue with the metro, and these are those of Anagnina (Metro A), Rebibbia (Metro B) and Laurentina (Metro B); alternatively, the city is full of paid parking lots, where, however, there is a need to watch out for the variable rates from area to area.

Going from Naples to Rome for the Jubilee: how to choose the perfect time for the pilgrimage

We have listed all the possible ways to go from Naples to Rome, or rather, we have presented the most convenient ones with pros and cons. We do not recommend the flight hypothesis because of cost and time: from Capodichino to Fiumicino/Ciampino is about 50 minutes, so a little less than the high-speed train, but with higher costs and considerable checking times. Back to us, let's figure out together the best times for our trip.

The Jubilee 2025 in Rome lasts all year round, however, there are some events where it is worth attending to fully experience its spirituality and atmosphere. For example, from February 16 to 18, 2025, there will be the Jubilee of Artists, while from February 21 to 23 there is the Jubilee of Deacons. Clearly, this is not the end of the story; there are events already scheduled for the months to follow and others yet to be scheduled.

The periods we recommend are those where it is possible to combine lower attendance and great events to experience, so the month of May stands out. We would be in the middle of spring, with mild weather and fewer crowds given the looming summer. We also point out three different events between the 10th and 18th that are already set.

Alternatively, we go to autumn, with the period between late September and early October being very interesting for the reasons already mentioned above for spring. In any case, all events and the latest news can be found on the official Jubilee website; it's all just a click away, easy, clear and fast. Now that you have all the information, you just have to book your trip from the magic Naples to Rome!
