The programme of performances at the San Carlo Theatre... in streaming
The San Carlo streaming schedule includes the transmission of three monthly shows, a schedule that will be updated and made public every month. For the moment, let's focus on that of February.
Leading the way to programming will be Il pirata by Vincenzo Bellini on air from 8:00 pm on February 5th to 11:59 pm on February 28th. The event is a concert performance of Bellini's melodrama in two acts, to a libretto by Felice Romani. Recorded live on January 16, 2021, the show was directed by the Sicilian Antonino Fogliani and sees among its performers the Emilian baritone Luca Salsi, in the role of Ernesto, and Sondra Radvanosky American soprano for the first time on stage at the San Carlo, in role of Imogene. It should also be noted that melodrama has never been staged in the Neapolitan theater, for the whole of the last century!
From 8:00 pm on February 12th to 11:59 pm on February 28th, another timeless masterpiece, Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons, will be available. Recorded live on November 19, 2020, the show was staged by the Orchestra and Ballet of the Teatro di San Carlo thanks to the synergy of a copious harvest of professionals, including the choreographer Giuseppe Picone, the costume designer Giusi Giustino, the actors Giovanna Sorrentino and Valeria Iacomino, just to name a few. The event will last about an hour, and will allow you to relive the millennial ritual of the changing of the seasons, reinterpreted by the great Venetian musician and reinterpreted by the illustrious cast of the Neapolitan theater.
Third event of the month, another absolute masterpiece, the Symphony n. 9 - "La Grande" by the famous Viennese musician Franz Schubert. Composed in 1825, the Grande, so called to distinguish it from the symphony n. 6, was performed live by the Orchestra of the Teatro di San Carlo under the direction of Maurizio Agostini on November 26, 2020. The show, lasting about an hour, will be available from 20:00 on February 19 to 23 : 59 of February 28.
