The
'Sunday at the Museum' initiative returns to Naples, an event promoted by the
Ministry of Culture that provides free admission every first Sunday of the month to all state museums and archaeological parks. This is an important initiative to promote Italy's culture that is becoming increasingly successful month after month.
Naples is clearly among the great protagonists of the event, with a large number of artistic sites chosen directly by the Ministry of Culture. The 'central' National Archaeological Museum to the Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte are inevitable, without forgetting sites in the provinces such as Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Sunday at the Museum: a cultural journey in Italy within everyone's reach
The 'Domenica al Museo' initiative was launched in Italy back in 2014 to promote and enhance the country's cultural heritage. The aim was to make art and culture more accessible to the Italian public by eliminating the cost of admission to Italian state museums every first Sunday of the month. Every year the event has been a great success, with numerous visitors each time. For example, last September the recorded attendance was 269,114 people, a truly remarkable number that certifies the success of the initiative.
The entire peninsula is famous for its extraordinary cultural heritage: archaeological sites, works of art, nature parks and much more. However, this immense heritage must be protected, and to protect it, its dissemination, its sharing among several generations, both speaking to the present and looking to the future, is essential. Making museums free, even if only once a month, makes art more inclusive and accessible to all. Important social barriers are broken down, providing an air of magic around 'Sunday at the Museum'.
The list of free museums in the city of Naples
Naples naturally responds with 'Sunday at the Museum'. There are indeed numerous artistic and cultural sites chosen by the Ministry of Culture in the Campania capital. The choice was naturally wide given the richness of Naples, so it was also difficult to exclude any of them. Many of the chosen sites are included in the ever-precious

These certainly include the National Archaeological Museum, the Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte, the Certosa di San Martino, Castel Sant'Elmo, the Royal Palace and the Pignatelli Cortes Museum. All places rich in art, culture and charm, absolutely not to be missed; all included in the Naples Pass.
