#Cuoredinapoli, the art project created by the School of New Technologies of Art at the Naples Academy of Art, is back on for its citizens.

The watchword for its creators is sharing: the spaces of the city become the ideal stage for a shared artwork capable of involving the whole community according to the principle of “relational anthropological sculpture.”

The very latest collective performance created is entitled “Many Hearts, One Beat.” An entire apartment building came alive thanks to the installations of #Cuoredinapoli. For the duration of one night, every apartment in the building lit up a red light, while bright red hearts were on all the balconies. A unique beat made by ordinary people, the inhabitants of the buildings and merchants who worked together to make this small miracle possible.

The #Cuoredinapoli project, which has now been active in the area for ten years, as of 2018 developed the revolutionary WebFaro light sculpture, which has its home in the Spanish Quarter. Any other light device is synchronously connected to this digital beat counter #Cuoredinapoli. In fact, the sculpture spreads a signal that makes all the aesthetic devices connected to it pulsate. This basic idea further amplifies the sense of network and capillarity: the “heart of Naples” can ideally beat in every place in the city and the world.

Art beats as loudly as music

Naples is a city where it is easy for hearts to make connections. A fertile ground for the fantastic installations of #Cuoredinapoli.

But Naples is also rhythm, music and sounds. And #Cuoredinapoli knows this because the installation Tanti cuori, un unico battito (Many Hearts, One Beat) was complemented by the presence of the musical group Pegaonda, percussionists who are experts in Afro-Brazilian rhythms. For a minute, their drums beat in unison with the bright rhythm of the building's hearts, giving those who were there a truly complete sensory experience. One could finally hear the sound of the illuminated red hearts.

But not only that, the dragging rhythm made everyone dance, making the performance even more “alive.” Because that is the purpose of the project, to create connections in a city that has plenty of heart, but just needs to rediscover it.

New connections are born: the collective 218

When a project is so heartfelt, it can only inspire and engage. This is how #CuorediNapoli, the 218 art collective based in Casalnuovo, was born.

For next December 22, the two art groups have in store a special event just in Casalnuovo, which always follows the idea of shared art interconnected to the territory and the citizens who live there.

Collaboration between citizenship and local businesses

A project that unites hearts is also something that creates connections on the ground, not only with musicians and artists, but also with ordinary citizens and businesses operating in the city.

Among the businesses that contributed to the Tanti cuori, un unico battito event were Antica Cantina Sepe, a historic wine shop in the Rione Sanità, Cantine Mezanotte and Lollo Caffè, among the official partners of #Cuoredinapoli.

Some notes on #Cuoredinapoli

The #Cuoredinapoli project has among its primary aims the “revaluation of the territory.” That is why it collaborates with “associations that act in a sustainable way on the Neapolitan territory.”

The commitment of this collective is to leave an imprint, involve people, and spread positive values. So many editions have featured the now famous all-pixel heart that identifies the #Cuoredinapoli group, from the 2014 Kiss Festival to the 2023 Act of Love.

A reality that promotes such positive values cannot but be loved by Neapolitans and non-Napolitans alike. We look forward to new projects that will make our hearts beat.
