Re-opening of Città della Scienza

The Città della Scienza ("City of Science") in Naples re-opens after the lockdown. It features various areas in which one can explore and learn about science exhibits and cultural events. It is also a promoter for sustainable technologies activities and enterprise.

The new-opening, anyway, has some restrictions because of the anti-Covid safety standards. Città della Scienza opens only on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the entry upon booking.

The program is full of events and new exhibitions that will surprise and fascinate everyone...children and adults!

The exhibitions scheduled in Città della Scienza

Inside the Città della Scienza, you will visit CORPOREA: the first interactive museum on the human body. It covers more than 5,000 square meters and its path is dedicated to learning about the human body and biomedical sciences, but also an active player for the promotion of health and wellness, healthy lifestyles as well as scientific research and technology. The tour crossing 14 thematic islands focused on different human's parties and it's available in Italian, English and Chinese.

One of the new exhibitions in Città della Scienza is ANTARTIDE, about the 35 years of Italian mission in Antarctica. Throughout the tour, you get to know what type of scientific activities are carried out on Antarctic lands by Italian researchers. They are divided into 5 fundamental scientific topics (Biodiversity, Paleoclimate, Global Change, Space). During the exhibition are exposed also many Antarctic finds (logbooks, biological reports, photos) and equipment for the polar research.

Another new entry is then the EXTREME TOUR, inaugurated on Wednesday 30 December 2020. The exhibition leads to the discovery of the Phlegraean Fields through exceptional protagonists: extremophiles, extremely resilient microorganisms, discovered by scientists only in recent decades, which survive and proliferate in environmental conditions that are prohibitive for humans.

Città della Scienza supports the Vaccination Campaign

The President of the Science Center of Naples, Riccardo Villari, said that, during this period of a health emergency, "the re-opening is just a symbol". Normally, before the pandemic, the Science Centre was full of visitors: families as well as students. The president goes on to say that the re-opening is, in particular, to not let the culture die and fight this pandemic.

Indeed, Città della Scienza is helping and supporting the Covid-19 vaccination campaign, inviting everyone to vaccinate themselves.
