Christmas on the Amalfi Coast

Amalfi coast is a wonderful place all year round but during Christmas, it turns into a magical and inimitable place. Starting from Sorrento, passing through the many Maiori, Minori, Ravello and Positano, up to Amalfi there are so many wonders that Christmas brings as a gift for tourists who choose to visit these places. 

But let's not wait any longer, discover with me the Christmas in the Sorrento peninsula.

Christmas in Sorrento

Sorrento is one of the queens of the Sorrento peninsula and throughout the year it offers wonderful shows between breathtaking views and the centuries-old history, but during Christmas a magic is added to make everything even more special.

Everything starts from the traditional ceremony of lighting the big Christmas tree in Piazza Torquato Tasso which inaugurates the festivities throughout the city. Dozens of events that will accompany you during all the festivities: from the Christmas street food to the chocolate fair, passing through concerts, theater festivals and much more.

Sorrentowill be dressed up for the second half of January.

Christmas in Amalfi

With its centuries-old history, Amalfi could only have a Christmas dedicated to the historical tradition of its village. We start with popular traditions to get to the present day with more mundane events. The streets of the historic former Maritime Republic will be populated by lights, festoons, live Christmas music, concerts and so on.

In the historic square of the beautiful and enigmatic Cathedral of Amalfi, everything will have a different taste thanks to the suggestive magic of Christmas, with bagpipers through the streets and Christmas markets at every corner that populate and colour the city.

In fact, after 10 years a tradition returns that made Amalfi famous throughout Italy: the descent of the star. A magnificent installation that included a bright star that descends from the Sant'Antonio district to the Darsena.

Christmas in Minori

Minori is preparing to welcome a more unique Christmas celebration with events of all kinds. From Christmas concerts with the pipers' ensemble and other Christmas carols to the traditional artistic nativity scenes until the delivery of the letter to Santa Claus, who after a few days will also deliver the gifts in a ceremony in the middle of the square.

The local youth sport will also be enhanced with a soccer tournament dedicated to Christmas and a wonderful event of rhythmic gymnastics.

Christmas in Ravello

Ravello is one of the pearls of the coast. Small and cosy but full of history and tradition even during Christmas. There will be space for all kinds of Christmas events, from the shepherds' cantata to the meeting with Santa Claus and a treasure hunt for the youngest.

But what will take the stage in Ravello is the wonderful auditorium Niemeyer, designed by the homonymous architect Oscar Niemeyer, which will host many Christmas-themed events and, above all, the famous and traditional Christmas concert.

Where to spend Christmas on the Amalfi Coast?

I have tried to show you events of various kinds in different places, but they are just some of the traditional ones that will fill the Amalfi coast during Christmas. But the peninsula is not limited to this, every corner surrounds itself with the beauty and wonder of Christmas from Castellammare di Stabia to Positano, passing through Praiano, Maiori and Meta.
